Lead A Wellness Class
Volunteer leaders are an integral part of Centralina’s mission in providing various self-management workshops in the community.
NO EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED!!
As the license holder of these evidence-based workshops Centralina trains, manages and provides needed supplies, marketing support and materials, at no cost to the volunteer. Certified leaders gain skills and help others make changes that positively impact their well-being and health.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
All training takes place at Centralina Area Agency on Aging’s Office. After receiving 2-4 days of training, certified leaders working in pairs, co-lead small interactive groups of no more than 15 participants. Workshop classes meet weekly for 2 – 2 ½ hour sessions over 6 – 8 weeks, in a community setting. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:
- Healthy eating
- Appropriate exercises
- Stress management
- Falls prevention
- Improved communication
- Medication management
- Goal setting
- Problem solving
- Attend required training
- Co-lead a workshop within six months of training
- Co-lead one workshop annually thereafter
- Co-lead as presented in the manual
- Abide by program fidelity
- Demonstrate 2.5 hours of continuing education annually
