Access Support for Medication Costs

If you’re on Medicare, need help paying for prescription medication and have a low income, you may qualify for Extra Help from Social Security. The Extra Help program assists in paying for prescription drug costs, such as premiums, deductibles and coinsurance.

The Extra Help program is designed for people on Medicare with limited income and resources to lower Part D costs, which provides prescription coverage. It is not Medicaid but a payment from Social Security toward your drug coverage.

You can apply for Extra Help any time after enrolling in Medicare Part D to receive assistance. Questions about Medicare? Visit the SHIIP website.
